If all those high draft picks can stay healthy (Stafford, Suh, Megatron, etc.), this Lions team can beat anybody.

But more than anything I like the Lions here as I expect the Cowboys to be emotionally drained after their mighty Monday nighter in Washington. Romo played inspired in spite of his busted ribs and bruised lung. Can he muster magic in back to back weeks? Or will Suh and the rest of that nasty D-line in Detroit finish him off?

If I could bet it, I'd bet Romo doesn't finish the game.

WEEK 4 EARLY BIRD SPECIAL

Saints/Jaguars(H) O/U @ 46.5

I'm looking for the Saints to play down a little to their competition on the road. And the Jags certainly aren't built, or even capable of, a shootout with anyone.

Dolphins +7.5 Chargers (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: DOLPHINS

The Dolphins were road warriors last year. I'm betting on a little return to that magic this Sunday.

Steelers/Texans(H) O/U @ 45

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER

Something is wrong with the Steelers defense. Don't look for their problems to get corrected on the road in Houston against one of the better offenses in the entire league. The only chance the Steelers have is to outscore the Texans.

Vikings -1.5 Chiefs (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: VIKINGS

One 0-3 team simply has more talent than the other 0-3 team. The Vikings have blown three straight big leads this year. All that frustration will be taken out on a simply pathetic Chiefs squad.

Patriots -4.5 Raiders (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: PATRIOTS

Speaking of venting frustration, New England is sick about the Buffalo game. It's very rare to see a Belichick coached team lose two in a row to teams with inferior talent and coaching.

WEEK 3 - MNF

Redskins/Cowboys(H) 1st HALF O/U @ 23

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER

The best way to protect Tony Romo's fractured ribs and collapsed lung? Run the ball. Count on the Cowboys to at least try to establish a clock-chewing running game against the Redskins throughout the first half.

WEEK 3

49ers +2.5 Bengals (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: 49ers
The less dysfunctional franchise should prevail.


Patriots -8.5 Bills (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: BILLS
An awful lot of points for a home team looking pretty potent right now.


Dolphins/Browns(H) O/U @ 41

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER
I just have a hunch that two struggling offenses will find a little rhythm to bust out with some points.


Broncos +7 Titans (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: BRONCOS
John Fox style football will come to prosper against the Titans. This could be a straight-up upset in the making.


Jaguars/Carolina(H) O/U @ 42.5

Two rookie QB's. I'll take the 'under' on that fact alone.

There's a chance special teams will be the factor that kicks this game to 'over' status.

Week 1 sucked some serious ass bubbles. Fuck life. Onward...

Look for the entire Bears defense to play inspired in support of their middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, who lost his mother suddenly this week at the age of 51.

Chiefs v. Lions(H) O/U @ 45

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER

The Chiefs would be wise to emphasize a clock-eating run game against this suddenly elite Lions offense.

Packers -10 Panthers (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: PACKERS

Nope. Not buying it. Cam Newton's 422 passing yards in his rookie debut will feel like a distant memory come Sunday.

Texans v. Dolphins(H) O/U @ 47.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER

Two very decent defenses should keep the points total beneath such a lofty line.

Chargers +6.5 Patriots (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: CHARGERS

Could be a close game between two teams that have every expectation to meet again in the AFC championship. I'll take the points.

Eagles -1.5 Falcons (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: FALCONS

I'll admit I'm uneasy about this pick. But the Falcons have more motivation to win this game than just sticking it to Vick, after an ugly week 1 loss. If the Falcons are smart, they'll pound runners between the tackles against the NFL's worst linebacking corps -- and keep the Eagles offense off the field in the process.

I like what I've read about Drew Brees hosting off-season practices during the lockout. The lockout will obviously affect different teams in different ways. I think the Saints will come out of the gate a little more prepared than most.

Steelers +2.5 Ravens (H)

The Ravens need this one at home in the worst way.

It's the Lions defense that has me most intrigued this season.

Bad vibes coming out of the Windy City. From the players feeling down about the off-season departure of longtime center Olin Kreutz, to the shitty grass they play on at Soldier Field... just bad vibes. The Falcons, however, they're all in.

Titans +3 Jaguars (H)

To be honest, I grabbed this line just before the Jags released starting QB David Garrard. Oh well. I'm stuck with an unfair line. No big deal. I actually still think the Titans are in more disarray than the Jags.
