WEEK 8

Texans  -3  Bills (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Bills
Texans QB Matt Schaub is brittle on a warm Houston day. Imagine how brittle he will be on a blustery afternoon in upstate New York. On the other side of the ball, I have a feeling Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will get a few deep balls to his WRs, and that will prove the difference in this upset win.

Vikings team O/U @ 21.5  vs. Packers

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER
I don't know who will win this game (I'm hoping the Packers do), but there's no way Favre goes down without a fight. He'll see to it points get on the board.

Dolphins  +3  Jets (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Dolphins
A tale of two teams going in different directions. The once red hot Jets have come crashing down in recent weeks. The Dolphins' QB of the future, Chad Henne, is now the capable QB of the present. Henne's emergence in the passing game will only better serve Miami's killer rushing attack.

Seahawks  +9.5  Cowboys

DeVoodoo's pick: Seahawks
That's an awful lot of points to hand Hasselbeck and crew. There are legitimate concerns along Seattle's battered O-line, but they need this game. And the Cowboys just don't appear hungry enough right now.

Falcons/Saints(H) 1st half O/U @ 27.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
I've never seen a first-half total this high. Never. And any regular to this site knows I love betting first-half 'unders'. The final score may in fact blow up to phenomenal proportions, but look for both defenses to give it their all during the first half, and for the Falcons to try to establish the ground attack.

WEEK 7

Vikings  +4  Steelers (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Vikings
Those points might come in handy in what could turn out to be a close, defensive battle. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Vikes win this one outright and continue their unbeaten streak.

Bears  +1.5  Bengals (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Bears
The Bears blew too many red zone opportunities last week. Expect a very determined Bears offense to make amends against a battered Bengals defense.

Colts/Rams(H)  O/U  @  45

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
The Rams will play this one tougher than most expect. Steven Jackson should receive a ton of carries (that will keep the game short). And the loud, domed fans of St. Louis should make enough noise to slow down Manning's offense, at least a little bit. These two factors conspire to form a nice 'under' play.

Eagles  -7  Redskins (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Eagles
Last week's Eagles loss at the hands of the lowly Raiders might turn out to be the biggest shocker of the entire 2009 season. The Eagles get a chance to wash that terrible taste out of their mouths when they face the 'Raiders of the East' on MNF.

MONDAY NIGHT

Broncos  +3.5  Chargers (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Chargers
I liked this line a lot better when it was at 3, but it moved before I got my bet in. Regardless, I just don't believe the Broncos hype, and San Diego is coming off a bye week well rested and determined to assert domination in the AFC West. I believe they plan to bury the Broncos in the form of a statement game to themselves and the rest of the league. Look for inspired defensive play from Merriman and company.

WEEK 6

Texans  +4.5  Bengals (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Texans
This line actually moved to 5 between the time I placed the bet a few days ago and Saturday afternoon (sorry for the delay). Despite some serious injury concerns on the defensive side of the ball for the Texans, I still think this will be a close game between an overachieving team (read: Bengals) and an underachieving team.

Lions/Packers(H) 1st HALF U  @  24

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
Injuries to Stafford and Megatron will keep the Lions low in points. I'm guessing the Packers will try to establish the run, then pass.  All this adds up to a snooze-fest first half.

Rams/Jags 1st HALF O/U  @  21.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
Two terrible offenses go head to head in a game that couldn't be any less exciting.

Bears team O/U @ 17  v. Falcons (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER
Sunday night games have arguably become more buzz-worthy than Monday night games, given SNF broadcasts over mainstream television (NBC) and MNF plays on paid cable (ESPN). I just don't see Cutler & crew not producing points on the big stage.

WEEK 5 ADDITION - PATS v. BRONCOS

Patriots  -3.5  Broncos (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Patriots
Granted, the Broncos D is playing lights out, the Broncos have home field advantage, and Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels has rare insight into the Patriots roster given he was their O-coordinator last year. The Patriots have been rusty so far this year, but they'll quickly get their act together. Starting this Sunday at Mile High Stadium.

WEEK 5

Cowboys  -8  Chiefs (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Chiefs
I smell a trap game for the Cowboys. Either that, or Wade Phillips queef'd.

Bengals  +8.5  Ravens (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Bengals
The Bengals' rebound season continues.

Browns/Bills(H)  O/U @ 40.5

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER
There's no reason why these two terrible offenses should score a lot of points. So, naturally, that means they will.

Lions (H) TEAM O/U @ 17 v. Steelers

DeVoodoo's pick: OVER
The Lions actually think they're progressing toward respectability. They're not. But that belief in themselves will create more than 17 points in this game that they'll eventually lose.

Falcons  +2.5  49ers (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Falcons
I actually bet the Falcons on a money line wager because I think those 2.5 points will be irrelevant in this upset win. But since I don't keep track of money line wagers on this site, you get the play plus points.

Texans/Cardinals(H)  1st HALF  O/U @ 24.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
I will rarely ever bet the 'over' in a 1st half spread of 24.5, regardless of the teams playing.

Jets  -1.5  Dolphins (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Dolphins
I'm not a big 'trends' guy, but Monday night home dogs are simply one of the few trends not to be ignored. That said, I don't love this pick.

WEEK 4

Raiders/Texans(H) O/U @ 42.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
I don't see the Raiders turning around their offensive misfortunes until at least the 2012 season, or until Al Davis dies, whichever comes first. But you gotta give the Raiders D some credit. They're tough. On the other side of the ball, the Texans D has a LOT to prove. They've been terrible. The Raiders are exactly the team you want to play (at home, no less) when you need to get your defensive mojo back.

Titans  -3  Jaguars (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Titans
I just don't see the Titans going 0-4 to start the season. Jacksonville barely has a home field advantage since nobody goes to their games.

Ravens  +2  Patriots (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Ravens
I'm speculating that things get a little worse in Foxboro before they get better. Everything about the Patriots is just out of sync right now. Brady isn't back to form, receivers are hurt, the O-line is mediocre at best, and the defense has lost too many key players from the days of yore. Conversely, the Ravens are firing on all cylinders.

Cowboys/Broncos(H) O/U @ 42.5

DeVoodoo's pick: UNDER
I'll admit I didn't expect this kind of season at all from the Broncos. That said, they're the worst 3-0 team I've ever seen. D-coordinator Mike Nolan has his squad playing smart football. Add to that all the troubles with injuries and ineptitude the Cowboys are suffering on offense, I'm sorta kinda thinking this will be a mile-high barn-burner.

Packers  +3.5  Vikings (H)

DeVoodoo's pick: Vikings
I'm conflicted on this pick. On the one hand (the emotional one), I want to see Brett Favre get his ass handed to him by his former team of 16 seasons. But sadly I just don't see it happening on Monday night at home. In fact, I think the Vikings will crush the Packers. The Pack will have to wait until they host the Vikes at Lambeau for a shot at Favre-flavored revenge.
